Tote'm Chit Update
Boy Scout Adult Leader Training (Scoutmastership Fundatmentals), Part IV:
Saturay morning seminar, ddmmmyy
location
We have really been trying to emphasize FUN in Scouting, Safe Haven in Scouting, Boy Led programs in Scouting. How about this. One of the things we have been planning to implement is a Scoutmastershhip Fundamentals IV (there is no such thing) which would be a Saturday morning seminar, a continuation of Scoutmastership Fundamentals Parts I, II, III, and going more into depth on
1) Year-round Program Planning.
2) Record Keeping. The plan for this brand new idea is incomplete so far.
On Year-round Program Planning, IMHO, it would be good to emphasize what the sequence of events leading up to that might be; might be something like:
0) SM reviews National's Training Junior Leaders (the one in the maroon binder, with tape) and Troop Planning (the one in the blue binder, with tape) courses.
1) troop elections
2) SM reviews SPL's job with next SPL.
3) SM observs next SPL review ASPL's job with next ASPL.
4) SPL observs next ASPL review other troop jogs with other elected/appointed troop officers.
5) SM conducts National's Training Junior Leaders Saturday/Weekend course (we opted for the Saturday schedule)
6) New troop officer inaugeration.
7) SM prepares a calendar with troop meeting dates and campout dates, and, some "goals" the Scouts might try to plan for.
8) SM reviews the calendar and "goals" with the SPL
9) SM conducts Troop Planning course
10) Annual planning meeting - by this time, the only input the SM should need to make might be to indicate his preference for type of meat on a camping trip that the PLC wanted to invite him to eat with them on, otherwise, the SPL runs the whole show.
On Record Keeping - have not thought much on this, but, there is a world of things to go into here too.
